i had a week from hell dealing with a kidney infection that was misdiagnosed and therefore untreated for the 1st 4 days, oh that felt so terrific on my body, but thankfully it's fading into the background as i finish up some horsepill antibiotics and take care of other aspects of my health... kinda scary and unnerving though, i was hospitalized in college with the same thing and it worries me thinking about how my kidney beans will hold up into late adulthood, but that's not very positive thinking, so whatever.

so yeah, if you're having vague abdominal pain and a fever you should insist that the doctor makes damn sure it's not just a stupid stomach virus.

i realized i do not see or talk to 99% of you, yet xanga is just this random blogging community that persists, serving well for voyeuristic updates and silly youtube videos.  c'est la vie, we're all doing our thang in a corner of the globe, hope you folks are all doing well, staying healthy and happy... people are going through much worse things; keep ya head up.

sooo... how does one go about buying a car???

carmax buyers, share your experience in 20 words or less.

any hybrid owners out there?  down with foreign oil dependence.  stick it to the mayng!

where's oprah and her "YOU GET A CAR AND YOU GET A CAR AND YOU AND YOU AND YOU" when i need it.

and oh, my job is stressing me beyond belief.    <--- how i feel everyday, very clueless, very wtf.

***EDIT***

andy, thanks so much for your advice, you echoed some of my sneaking suspicions...

but i just went to carmax and bought a cheap '02 nissan sentra with a ton of miles on it that's in good shape.  so whatever!  i didn't want to stress over it at all.

my next car, in 4-5 years, will be the real deal.

i'm going from rags to pseudo-riches, y'all.

i'm just a love machine.

bienvenidos a peru, mis amigos.

two words for my experience serving in peru:  ANNUAL PROJECT.

thanks for your prayers and support.  you'll have to meet my peruvian husband someday...

this little girl hustled me for this pic!  but how could i refuse, she was holding a grungy little lamb

this is manuel, who is clearly not one of my pediatric patients.  but he  really made me break down in tears... he had the most beautiful smile, a window to his sincere and warm soul.

and yea, that's MACHU PICCHU!!!  i hiked and camped for 4 days to get to this crazy place... nearly lost life and limb and digicam over the sheer mountainsides... but we all shut up upon arriving.  it's that cool.  don't judge me for wearing a cubs hat, there was an inca king next to me with a sacrificial obsidian knife to my back, he was a diehard cubs fan

i know, right?  the most mountainous terrain we have in chicago are the speedbumps in school zones

this is a vicuña.  one scarf made of its wool costs $450!!!  ay caramba.  shortly after i took this pic i ran over and cut a piece for myself with my handy dandy son-tope kkahkee
he is not my husband, but this is my random family portrait, hahaha (michael was a translator at the clinic, maria jose is my host mom's adorable granddaughter)

more pics to come!
